Virtual Shopping

I cleaned out my closet this week, and my darling fiance was kind enough to haul two big bags of clothes to the Bridge House. Having cleaned my closet, I feel that I now have some leeway to identify a few gaps in my wardrobe that need to be filled.
The first is a little black dress. I gave away one LBD that was too small, and my remaining one is a little too big (although I still wear it). I am partial to this one, but am not sure if I want to get a strapless LBD because my current one is also strapless. The search continues! :)
Another purchase I need to make eventually is a reception dress. I wasn't thinking that I would get a white one because I want something I can wear again, but I am rather taken with this little white dress. I think it's simple enough that I can pair it with some extravagant shoes (maybe in blue?) at my reception, then wear it again with something more practical in the future.
I also need to get some new swimwear this season. I can't decide if I would rather have a one-piece or a bikini (or two).
Finally, I need a few cute tops to wear out on the town.
What's on your shopping list this year?

  1. What?!?!?! You donated clothes? I am not OK with that. ;)

  2. Haha I know! I was lamenting that I didn't have you and Lauri to rummage through my bags looking for the good stuff. But a lot of this was pretty old and pilled so I don't think you missed out too much. :)

  3. The dresses are super cute. But may I say for my own taste, I'm not liking how short dresses are running this season! I find as time passes (bleh) I prefer skirts and dresses to come all the way to the knee. This is a travesty, since my body proportions (short waist, small chest) only seem to fit in junior-intended clothing. And frankly, I'd rather leave short shorts and mini skirts and completely bare tops to the young squirts. This is me, shopping from Japan, at cheap online stores. Maybe once I'm gainfully employed again, I can afford to shop at higher end shops that might design for more than ectomorphic types. Ack, this started out as a compliment to your taste, and turned into a rant! Sorry 'bout that. :)

  4. Oh, I completely agree with you! I prefer things as close to knee length as possible! That was one of my main reasons for holding off buying from Lulu, etc...I like a skirt I can sit comfortably in and a lot of the dresses on those sites looked really short to me. Juniors are the worst- short short short. And I dislike spaghetti straps for some strange reason- so when I see a combo of spaghetti straps plus a short dress, I get so frustrated b/c the fabric is, inevitably, adorable. *sigh*

  5. P.S. How adorable is this? (And it's knee length and has sleeves!!)

  6. I love those blue shoes!

You hate spaghetti straps? Hmmm. . . I think I'm ok with them.

On my shopping list? Nothing yet. Still digesting the fact that it's actually warm outside.

PS: Wanted to tell you that if you're in the same house when you're pregnant, the stairs will be bad with the dog long before a baby gets there--that's a real balance killer.

  7. Haha I've fallen down the stupid stairs at least twice in my non-impregnated state as it is!
I definitely have to see what warm clothes I have once we get them out of storage when we get back from Colorado. Right now I have like 2 short sleeve shirts to choose from. Warm weather definitely snuck up on us this year!

  8. Cute dresses!
Let's see....I need to buy EVERYTHING. My clothes seem to have been stolen by gnomes or something because magically half my shirts are missing. Although, Mike bought me a surprise garment which I can't tell anyone about until I get it! I want to get more dresses I can wear over jeans and shirts, sundresses I guess.

  9. The gnomes come to your house too? They like to shrink my clothes instead of steal them though! :)

  10. I've been wanting that dress in white! I was thinking of wearing it with a chunky coral pearl necklace I plan on making to some summer party. Recently I realized that I don't own a classic sheath and have been on the hunt, but it's hard to find one to fit my big ol' rear end...

  11. Coral would be amazing with the white dress!

  12. The magic shrinking gnome apparently stays away from Japan; I've been hang-drying all my clothes since the first week I was here. (Taking 6 hours to complete a load of laundry in my Japanese wash/dry unit has changed my perspective on machine-drying.)

Yes, cute dress! When I was home for 2 weeks, I managed to find a couple of affordable flutter-sleeve knee length sundresses. Go Target, go!

  13. Since I moved here from Connecticut I know the source of the shrinking gnomes. It's New Orleans water: the cold taps run hot in the summer when you wash your clothes and everything shrinks! It's so frustrating that sometimes I dump some ice in the machine when I'm doing cold water laundry!
